Prayer:
Father, I thank you for my pastor and for his or her call and gifts (Col. 1:3-6) I praise you for sending such a shepherd for my soul! To you belong honor and glory. You are worthy, our Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. (Rev. 4:11)
"If some Christians that had been complaining about their minister had said and acted less before men and had applied themselves with all their might to cry to God for their ministers -- had, as it were, risen and stormed heaven with humble, fervent, and incessant prayers for them -- they would have been much more in the way of success." -- Ralph Neighbor
Prayer For Pastors:
Satan knows that if he can strike a shepherd, the sheep will scatter, and he loves nothing more than to see an effective spiritual leader fall. As a result, pastors need to be prayed for -- not just in times of crisis or church difficulties -- but consistently, intentionally and faithfully in every area of their lives. They need a hedge of protection both from "friendly fire" and from the darts that the enemy aims at their personal and family lives, their time with God, and their professional reputations. Think about this -- it is almost impossible to criticize and pray for someone at the same time. Prayer releases in us the mercy and compassion of God. Therefore, by choosing to pray for your pastor, you are not only choosing to speak blessings, claiming all that God has for him or her, but you are also building a shield against all kinds of devices meant to halt or harm them. This pleases God. -- (from "Preyed On, or Prayed For" by Dr. Terry Teykl)
